Sawdust for weed control, not herbicides

The aged sawdust we have used for several years has been very successful. Being oak it helps keep the PH down, helps hold the water, keeps weeds manageable and as it deteriorates adds air space to the soil. We use a lot of it. In our younger days, we spread it with a trailer and snow shovel. Now that we are older and smarter we use a mulching machine. Although the shoveling was certainly a good gym workout replacement the machine has saved tons of time. What use to take a month takes a day. We have found plenty else to fulfill the need for a good gym workout at the farm.
